having seen this beautiful exhibit last year in its first showing, i am glad to see it continue on. last summer, while studying abroad with FIT, we visited the Musee Bourdelle in Paris to see the Madame Gres exhibit (see more on it HERE.) her mastery in drapery and designs that were ahead of her time made this such an exciting exhibition to see. not to mention the fact that she dressed Jackie O, was close with Cristobal Balenciaga and (enemies, some say) with Coco Chanel. Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge ended up buying all of her sketches, some of which are on display at this exhibit. she was very secretive about her work, and sadly the line died with her, but as you can see her friends (and foes) read like the la creme de la creme of fashion and style.

Nausicaä (Hayao Miyazaki, 1984)

Surely when we hear Hayao Miyazaki’s name we instantly think of a perfect anime. This is the only H.M. film we can consider in the genre of science fiction. Compared to his other films, this one has a stronger sense of violence, war and death. Despite having an obvious narrative Miyazaki fills it with a perfect soundtrack and situations full of love and compassion.
